A Bridge Too Far, VCD & DVD

This is a great war movie that was released in 1977 and I'd watched it in a cinema sometime in the late 1970s.

That 3-disc VCD box set was bought seven years ago from a retail shop in Johor Baru and it has a price tag of RM 29.90, about SGD 13.50 then.

Its Disc 3 had somehow developed a slight defect when I'd played it for the second time.

This movie is too good that I have to watch it for just one more time, and I'd decided early last year to buy it in DVD from an online store in USA.

I can't save my money on a great movie like this!

Two War Movies in 3-Disc Box Sets

These are two war movies in 3-disc VCD box sets that I'd bought from a local retail shop some eight years ago.

I don't think I wanna buy these two movies in DVDs 'coz I wanna save my money.

These old VCDs are very playable and they're good enough for me.

Clint Eastwood, Two NTSC1 DVDs

Play Misty for Me, Universal Studios 2001, NTSC1, 103 mins., Made in USA and The Eiger Sanction, Universal Studios 2002, NTSC1, 129 mins., Made in USA.

I'd bought these two exciting movies starring Clint Eastwood from an online store in the USA about two years ago. Their prices were much cheaper than those selling in local retail shops downtown.

Clint Eastwood is one of my favorite actors. I have almost all of those early spaghetti Westerns in VCDs starring Clint Eastwood, and of course the war classic Where Eagles Dare in a 3-disc VCD box set.

I don't think I wanna buy those movies in DVDs 'coz I wanna save my money. Those old VCDs are very playable and they're good enough for me.

Escape from Alcatraz

Escape from Alcatraz, Paramount Pictures 2001, NTSC3, 112 mins., Made in Taiwan.

This 1979 adventure movie is one of my favorites.

This item is my third and my last DVD that I'd ever bought from a local retail shop in 2003. It's my only NTSC3 (Region Code 3) DVD in my collection.

Almost all of my DVDs are those of NTSC1 (Region Code 1) bought from online stores in the USA, as well as from Yahoo! and eBay auctions. Check out my first ever DVD movie bought in 2003 by clicking here.

MacKenna's Gold

MacKenna's Gold, Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. 2000, NTSC1, 123 mins., Made in USA.

This 1969 movie is one of the most exciting Westerns ever made.

Side A is a widescreen version and preserves the original theatrical aspect.

Side B is a full screen version and is re-formatted to fit your TV screen.

This item is my second DVD that I'd ever bought from a local retail shop in 2003. Check out my first ever DVD movie bought in 2003 by clicking here.

The Beatles, Yellow Submarine

The Beatles, Yellow Submarine, 13 songs, 1987 EMI Records Ltd, Made in USA.

Here's another music compact disc that came enclosed inside a long paperbox when I'd bought it in the mid-1990s.

That retail shop at Raffles Place where I'd bought this CD had closed down sometime in 1998 when the Asian financial crisis hit the economy of Singapore quite badly.

Keychains of Colleges and Universities

Keychains issued by some institutions of higher learning, like colleges & universities, are great for collection 'coz they are nice to look at and good for display.

Have a nice day!

Keychains of Airlines of the World

Perhaps I should say Airlines of Asia in my title instead of Airlines of the World because these are smallish airlines of Asian countries with the exception of Singapore Airlines.

But don't forget Singapore Airlines started off small in the early 1970s and that piece of keychain on display was among some humble souvenirs it'd given out to promote its corporate image.

Keychains of MNCs in Singapore

Multi-National Corporations of financial services and electronic manufacturing are very well-established in Singapore, and they've dished out keychains to promote their corporate image.

Keychains of Singapore Corporations

In order to promote corporate image and goodwill, companies and corporations in Singapore do at times hand out nice keychains as souvenirs to their business clients and working staff.

Horse Head Keychain, Sterling Silver

This is a nice vintage sterling silver keychain made in Italy.

Antique Silver Pendant or Ornament

The age of this silver pendant might be up to 100 years old.

It might be an ornament used for good luck 'coz the design is that of an auspicious lion symbol.

I'd bought this item some 15 years ago from a good friend who'd told me it came from China.

Heavy Ring made of Pure Gold

Although this ring is made of 999 fineness gold, it doesn't get out of shape that easily 'coz it's thick and heavy.

Bought in 1960 from Tin Sing Goldsmiths situated in Chinatown, this ring weighs exactly 9.44 grams or 0.3035 troy ounce.

Never know a small item like this ring has up to six hallmarks on its inner surface.

Sold to a returned customer on January 31, 2008 at current gold bullion price of US$925 per troy ounce. One troy ounce equals 31.1035 grams, and US$1.00 exchanges for S$1.42. Sold!

Narrow Ring made of Pure Gold

A narrow ring made of 999 fineness gold is too soft for casual wear and it's easily knocked out of shape.

However, it can be knocked back into shape by any goldsmith for a small fee.

Sold on March 14, 2008. Sold!
