Chubby Checker: Limbo Rock

Limbo Rock by Chubby Checker, 7-inch Single, 45rpm, Made in Hong Kong, circa. 1961.

In the olden days, almost all 7-inch vinyl records were plain simple, dull looking, and enclosed in brown paper sleeve.

Led Zeppelin II

How To Break A Record.

In 1973, a college friend of mine bought a 12-inch vinyl LP record album, Led Zeppelin II, and he'd lent it to one of his friends who'd used a cheap turntable with a bad stylus and scratched the vinyl record.

I'd gone to my college friend's home to spin some of his records and he'd shown me that scratched record, lifted up his right thigh, smashed that record into two pieces, and thrashed up the album cover in frustration!

He'd advised me don't ever lend any vinyl record to anyone, and I'd thought his action was what was called breaking a record!

The Cleveland Symphonic Winds

The Cleveland Symphonic Winds, conductor Frederick Fennell, Audiophile Digital Recording, 1979. Made in Germany.

I'd bought this classical vinyl record brand new at a relatively high price, more than two times the usual price for any regular classical record in 1979.

This is the last and only piece of classical record in my collection, after having sold almost 40 pieces of other classical records in the past 8 years.

Wishbone Ash: Argus

Time was timeless for an ancient warrior looking at an UFO flying over a valley.

Perhaps this is one of the best progressive rock albums ever produced. The rock group is Wishbone Ash and the gate-fold album is called Argus, recorded in 1972. But you won't find Argus in the lyrics of the songs.

I'd bought this album in 1975 from Kwang Sia Records.

Breaking A Record

The Beach Boys, Heroes and Villains/You're Welcome, Capitol Records 1967, Made in Britain.

What a waste for me to drop and chip this vintage 7-inch vinyl single 45rpm record in the afternoon when I was about to shoot some photos of it to list it on eBay Singapore.

Check out the more than one inch chip off at the 9 o' clock position. This is called breaking the record!

Neil Diamond, Seven Vinyl Records, 33rpm

These seven pieces are my collection of Neil Diamond 12-inch vinyl LP records.

I've sold up to 150 pieces of LPs so far, but I haven't sold any of my Neil Diamond records yet 'coz I intend to keep them for a while longer.
