A US$20 Bill from Philippines

Sometime last week, I'd received a registered post enclosing an almost uncirculated US$20 bill from a nice gentleman living in Philippines, who'd wanted to buy one of my items listed on Yahoo! Auctions Singapore.

I've done business with many overseas customers and it's great to do business with my first ever customer from Philippines.

It's nice to keep this piece of greenback in my wallet, heehee! But I think I'll go over to Johor Baru to do some shopping and spend this US$20 bill someday soon.

Three Nice Used DVDs from USA

The Green Berets, Warner Home Video 1997 (1968), NTSC1, Widescreen, 142 mins.

Tank, GoodTimes Entertainment 2001 (1984), NTSC1, Standard Full Frame, 1 hour 54 mins.

Duel at Diablo, MGM Home Entertainment Inc. 2003 (1966), NTSC1, Widescreen, 1 hour 44 mins.

These three nice used DVDs were delivered to me on April 27, packed neatly inside a small carton box.

The seller had done a good job by packing my DVDs securely for that long shipping journey via surface mail from the USA to Singapore.

It'd taken exactly two months for this shipment to arrive, and I'm glad that I'd saved some money without using costly airmail.

A US$20 Bill for 3 DVDs

This is just a common US$20 bill that I'd bought at a cost of S$31.00 from a money-changer on February 14.

I'd posted it on the following day together with one piece of US$1 bill that I'd kept for quite some time in my wallet.

You see, a Yahoo! Auctions seller in the USA doesn't yet have a PayPal account for me to remit the amount of US$21.00 for three nice used DVDs (including surface postage) that I'd bidded successfully. I'd got to use the old-fashioned but reliable way of sending concealed cash by post, you know.

I'm glad my concealed cash was delivered to the seller on February 26.

Guanyin Brass Display Plaque

In 1998, while walking along a street at Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I'd chanced upon this attractive Guanyin decorative plaque for sale inside a small shop, and I didn't hesitate to buy it rightaway.

This plaque has many Chinese characters and Buddhist symbols stamped on both surfaces.

For your information, Guanyin is the Chinese Goddess of Mercy.

Guanyin Pendant and Amber Beads

In 2000 I'd made a donation of S$50.00 to a temple building project based in China.

A monk had given me a piece of Guanyin copper pendant and a string of amber beads as some tokens of acknowledgement for that donation.

For your information, Guanyin is the Chinese Goddess of Mercy.

Guanyin Gold-plated Keychain

This splendid Guanyin keychain was a meaningful and surprise gift given several years ago by a monk, who was one of my wife's customers.

For your information, Guanyin is the Chinese Goddess of Mercy.

Guanyin Sculpture, Quartz Crystal

This is a fine piece of hand-crafted Guanyin sculpture made of solid quartz that was bought from a stallholder inside a large shopping center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, about eleven years ago.

It's a relatively new production and so it's no use trying to estimate the age of this sculpture.

For your information, Guanyin is the Chinese Goddess of Mercy.
